Life is short, have some fun! I often forget that while caught in the hustle, and sometimes my wardrobe does too. I get stuck in a rut of jeans and blazer combos or maxi dresses in the same color combos with the same tassel necklace.

Sometimes the best way to get out of this rut is to have some fun with your accessories. Really, is there a necklace more fun than one called "tutti-frutti" consisting of a bunch of fruit? Thought not! Don't think you can rock? Try some color blocked wedges instead!

Sometimes a girl needs a little help. A pushup bra, a hidden platform heel, Spanx... you get the idea. Well this Yoana Baraschi dress is my little helper. Don't be fooled, the color blocking is more than just on trend it is super flattering. Think a slightly thinner waist line and feminine curves.

Love at First Cite

Lucite, it's certainly having a moment. From jewelry to decor and now shoes, lucite is everywhere. Did we not grow up listening to the story of Cinderella and her magical glass slipper? How those shoes turned her miserable life around and crowned her a real life princess.

While I'm not promising these lucite shoes will have exactly the same results, I can assure you they will make you look tres chic. So perhaps you'll be the Queen of Style. Long may you reign!

This or That

Call me a sap but I love sentimental gifts (even if they're gifts to yourself). Something that has meaning and when you see it you'll always remember the story behind it. I recently have been coveting map necklaces. They're perfect for marking a place in time near and dear to your heart.

Since I'm a born and raised PA gal I may get a state necklace from Maya Brenner. Or perhaps I'll get a street necklace from Three Jane to commemorate the university from which I graduated and spent many fun years. Decisions, decisions. But really you can't go wrong with these personalized accessories, they make the perfect wedding, graduation, anniversary, baby, etc. gift!

Alert the press, hot off the juice stand... Per Lei now carries Lilly Pulitzer in our new Sea Isle City location. While I'm head over heels for the maxis and casual shorts nothing beats this sweet little fishy necklace from the collection. A total summer statement if you ask me! Swimsuit Season

Some people dread bathing suit season, I embrace. No, I'm not completely confident in my figure. Far from it. I just love what the start of the season represents; warm weather, weekends at the beach, BBQs with friends and an excuse to shop for a new season!

All White Everything

It's Memorial Day, you know what that means? Honoring the brave men and women in our Armed Forces and that we can finally wear white! You've been wearing it all year, you say? It's okay I won't tell anyone. Today let's enjoy spending time with our friends and family while wearing an all white ensemble.

There's nothing as ladylike as an all white outfit with neutral accents.

Days Away

This weekend we welcome you to our newest location beachside in Sea Isle City. After months of designing, planning and moving merchandise we are thrilled for you to see perhaps our greatest space yet! To kick things off all this week I'll be posting some beachy inspiration.

Let's start with this nautical outfit for a beach party. Who would've thought the inspiration behind it was this cute anchor necklace from Gorjana & Griffin from Per Lei? To play up the nautical theme I stuck with primary colors and of course, stripes!

A new take on sexy, a T-shirt dress with pointed heels. It's always important to think about proportions when dressing, this DVF dress is modest on top covering the chest but shows a whole lot of leg on bottom. To accent those stems pull on some pointed toe heels. Were these heels not made for that dress?

The Thing About Leopard

At first site when I saw these Alice + Olivia pants images of Rhea Perlman as Matilda's mom running through my head. As with anything leopard print, if you don't style them right they can totally come off tacky. To avoid entering that zone pair with classics like a silk blouse, a solid pump or a structured blazer. Some jewelry doesn't hurt either just stay away from big hoop earrings. You've been warned.

Easter Style

Easter seemed to creep up on me this year, is it earlier or just me? Regardless, I have nothing to wear! I usually plan these things far in advance, because outfits, well they're important to me. A girl's gotta have priorities. So today I did some wandering through the store and stumbled upon this Tibi number. Problem solved, wouldn't you say? I love the classic color block combo with a pop of bright red.

Inspired Color

Blair from Atlantic Pacific always gets it right. She manages to be chic and right on trend while maintaining her classic sophisticated style. I'm always inspired by her looks and this one is no exception. I love how she combines two major trends for spring, stripes and black + white. She keeps the outfit interesting by adding a pop of chartreuse (who doesn't adore that word?).

While a full skirt may not be practical for everyone's daily wardrobe, there's still a lot to take away from this look. Here's my take using the same color story:

Black vs. Color

There are two types of girls out there, the classic ones in black and the bold ones in color. Now you can  be bold in black and classic in color. What I mean is you either prefer brights or monotones in your wardrobe.

Personally I love me some color. But let's leave this discussion open, because I'm dying to know which you prefer. Comment below.

That's A Wrap

Part of my job as Miss PL Girl has been taking on our latest and greatest project to date. No, not puppy sitting the adorable Harley but instead working on our first ever magalog! So what exactly is a "magalog"? As you've probably guess from the name, it's a mix between a magazine and a catalog. Our magalog will feature some editorial content about styling, trends, the store, etc. and of course TONS of our amazing products currently in store and soon to be in store just for you.

While this may seem like a glamourous easy process, there's actually an enormous amount of work that's been put in by the whole PL team. We aren't just talking about putting some clothes on a mannequin and snapping a pic for Instagram on the iPhone. Nope. We've been planning the content for the past weeks, coordinating and ordering the samples to come in for days, and corresponding with the big guys publishing the book for months.

Our first big mountain for our magalog was our photo shoot in NYC yesterday. Candice, Bruce and I packed the car full of all the samples and merchandise at 6am and headed up to the big city. While Penthouse on Madison Ave may have you thinking luxe and lucky, it was far less glamorous. Our shoot took place in a sparse room, with freezing temperatures. But all that really doesn't matter because there was some amazing equipment, talented professionals and gorgeous clothes. What else could you need?

Smitten with Sophia

Shoes, what girl doesn't adore them? Exactly. Well lately I've been swooning over the Fall 2013 collection from British designer Sophia Webster. She was the former assitant to Nicholas Kirkwood and really, what better designer to learn from then the master himself? With such bold and whimsical designs I'd say her future is looking bright.

Grammys Style

If I didn't love fashion so much I think I'd be in fashion overload. I mean NYFW plus The Grammys? Sequins and tulle and leather- oh my!

While the majority of the population can't make it to fashion week at least everyone can enjoy Grammy fashion from the comforts of their couch (& in their most stylish of sweatpants). So who tuned in with me?

Didn't you adore the Lady in Red Ms. Rihanna? Which makes me think, does she have a last name? I don't think I've ever heard one, perhaps she's the new Cher or Madonna. Anyways, back on track. For once Rihanna didn't push the envelop, no edgy hair and no exposed body parts. She even matched her lipstick to her dress! Maybe she's sick but I'm totally loving the refined Rihanna.

Oh Taylor, you're quite predictable with anything glittery, flowing and fairy-like, but that's why I like you. The girl knows what works and what doesn't. Her braided updo with bangs made it even better, tres chic Tay.

While I'm not a Beyonce fan by any means (go ahead and scold me America) I respect her for changing it up in a pantsuit. In a sea of princess gowns she stood out. Plus she was one of the few who respected the stricter dress code that was put in place. That's class.

Oh ps. Adele I'm so proud you gave your LBD the night off. You looked great.  

 

Etsy Finds

Like many others I too have grown quite an obsession for the popular site Etsy. It's like antiquing but without the weird smells, awkward sellers and the stuff is actually new (often times). I'm fascinated with the unique home decor that makes designing on a budget somewhat easy... and allows me to spend that much more money on fashion! Plus their accessories always unique.

You Got Pink'd

I have to say it... pink was totally robbed! Not the singer, the color that is and of the Pantone's Color of the Year.  While I do love a luxe emerald, I think pink it having a major moment in fashion and beauty.

It's been a big part of all the collections we bought for winter and spring. The shade has been all over the red carpet, even last night for at the SAG Awards on Lea Michele. And let's not forget that the hot pink lip is on pouts everywhere.

I'm telling you, pink is truly the color of the year and I demand a recount! 

Fashion: Miranda's Insta- Chic

Ever wake up and open your closet only to discover you have NOTHING to wear? Story.Of.My.Life. I've had a revelation though... stock up on basics and look insta- chic! Great basics can be mixed and matched with trendy pieces but also look just as glam paired together. Just check out Miranda Kerr. She no doubt has a closet as big as my whole house, yet she ops for basics and looks polished without trying too hard.

A Classic Birthday

It has been a big week at the PL headquarters, not only was it Candice's birthday but it was mine as well! Needless to say, it has been a week of celebration and festivity. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do a post on classic birthday gifts, gifts that you will never go out of style. Yes, they may cost a pretty penny but they are so worth it.
