Today we are overjoyed to have Kate Concannon of Life Sucks In A Strapless Bra guest blogging for us. If you haven't checked out this witty local gal's blog, we suggest you do. Without further hesitation, take it away Kate...
I’ve never been more ready to say farewell to Ol’ Man
Winter. Spring has spring, yet the guy refuses to leave town :::sigh:::
Seriously, he is making me want to light my winter coat on fire. But that
doesn’t mean we can’t pretend it is 65 degrees, no humidity and sunny out,
right?
As I indulge in denial, I can’t help but get excited about
all of the fantastic trends for spring 2013. But with that being said, there is
a lot going on. Monochrome, to color block, to mixing patterns … I mean
overwhelming? Yes. Impossible? Absolutely not.
So come with me down my road of denial that spring temps are
here and I actually have a chance to not look like Casper the Friendly Ghost as
I list the top trends every Per Lei-ista needs in her closet this spring.
1. There is this heinous assumption
that if you wear all black, especially during springtime, that you are either
A. goth, B. worship Satan, C. depressed. People need to understand that a look
like this is chic, timeless, and sexy. When wearing black this spring, mix
textures like this look from Vince. Leather with sheers, lace with cotton. Mix
it up and make it your own, it is all about black on black on black.
2. What? Still no color? I know … but
how could you not lust after this mod-inspired look from Alice + Olivia byStacey Bedet? Black and white is all the rage, but black and white stripes are
definitely owning spring 2013.
3. Whether you are meeting up with
the girls for cocktails or owning a meeting with clients, this Clover Canyon
graphic print blazer will steal the show. And in the words of Justin Timberlake
& Jay Z, “time for tuxedo’s for no reason.” And in my eyes … they are
always right.
4. Having simple and stylish dress that
you can just slip on in the spring is key. This chambray number from Splendid
will be perfect for those cold mornings and even hotter afternoons. Dress it
down with a chic pair of leopard flats or jazz it up with a pair of sassy neon
pumps. Trust me, every girl needs that “go-to” dress … and this is it.
5. I know I was a little hesitant at first too, but don’t be
afraid of a little floral denim this spring, ladies. From polka dots to stripes
… adopt this look. And with that being said, don’t be afraid to mix and match
patterns. I swear you won’t look a hot mess. Pair these Joe’s Jeans florals with a classic blue and white striped T. Style it up
with a nude pair of pumps and you will become one with this look.
